Punit Virk was born and raised in Edmonton and completed his medical degree at the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine. Before medical school, he spent six years in British Columbia training as a health services researcher. His interest in rural medicine grew during a year-long placement in Raymond, Alberta, where he came to value the breadth of rural practice and the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients and communities. He is especially interested in emergency medicine, community-based care, and rural health services research. Outside of medicine, Punit enjoys experimenting with protein-enriched baking and catching up with friends over long phone calls. He is also currently writing his first book. Punit looks forward to meeting patients and becoming part of the Drumheller community.
