Final Year Med Student
About Me
Jake is a final year medical student at the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine. He grew up just outside of Edmonton, and received his undergraduate biology degree from a small liberal arts university in rural Northwest Iowa, where he had a music scholarship in Piano and Organ. After graduating, Jake worked as a porter in a hospital in Edmonton, and was one year away from completing his Nursing degree when he was accepted to medical school. In medical school, Jake worked to elevate the medical student voice via his roles in the Alberta Medical Association (where he first met Dr. Rithesh Ram) and his research aims to capture the advocacy priorities of medical students. Outside of medicine, Jake is also a devoted Oilers fan, enjoys finding time for classical music, and will often be found walking or hiking in beautiful scenery while listening to a podcast. He is delighted to have been placed in Drumheller and is looking forward to working with and learning from the Rams
